Greenville man arrested for trespassing, drug paraphernalia possession

Clay County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Greenville man Tuesday afternoon for trespassing on property at 4215 250th Avenue and for possessing a glass pipe believed to be used to smoke methamphetamine.

According to a report, the sheriff’s office first received a call about man on the property without permission at 1:05 p.m. When they responded, they found Gene Chapman, 76, on the property.

Chapman was given a warning for trespassing and was removed from the property.


At 3:15 p.m., deputies were told Chapman had returned. He was found on the property when deputies arrived.

While speaking with Chapman, deputies found the glass pipe where he had been lying on the ground.

Chapman was arrested and taken to Clay County Jail. He was charged with trespassing and drug paraphernalia possession.


He was released with a date to appear in court.
