A Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested a Newell man Saturday morning after finding marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his car, which had been reported for being in the ditch in the 3000 mile of 500th Street.
After receiving a complaint about the car, a gray 2002 Ford Taurus, a deputy located the vehicle and saw a glass marijuana pipe through the front driver seat window, according to a news release from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, Gabriel Jacobs, 22, was contacted and the vehicle was towed the sheriff’s office.
Jacobs met with the deputy, who then searched the vehicle.
The search turned up about 30 grams of marijuana and more drug paraphernalia.
Jacobs was arrested and taken to the Clay County Jail. He was charged with possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to maintain control, both simple misdemeanors.
Jacobs was released on a $1,000 cash or surety bond.
