Charges pending after head-on collision results in serious injuries

A head-on collision on December 29 on Highway 18 resulted in both drivers being air lifted to Sioux Falls and charges are pending against one driver.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported the accident occurred last Saturday in the 2800 block of Highway 18.

A 2004 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Casey Lee Callsen, 28, of Spencer, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Robert Edgar Larson, 66, of Ruthven.

The sheriff’s office report stated both Callsen and Larson were transported to Spencer Hospital and later airlifted to Sioux Falls due to the injuries the suffered in the accident.


Damage to the Dodge Ram was estimated to be about $7,500, while damage to the Malibu was esimtated to be $6,500.

Charges are pending, according to the sheriff’s office.
