Deputies discover drug paraphernalia during traffic stop

A Hartley man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia Sunday afternoon after Clay County Sheriff’s deputies initiated a traffic stop and then searched the vehicle.

Christopher Cavin, 40, was arrested after a K-9 search resulted in an alert and drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle.

The sheriff’s office reportedly stopped a vehicle at 3:24 p.m. on Sunday in the 1200 mile of 340th Street.

The deputy requested assistance from the K-9 handler.

Cavin was arrested and transported to the Clay County Jail without incident.

He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

Cavin was held on a $300 cash or surety bond.
