After a couple months of uncertainty, Sammy’s Italian Pasta and Pizza will apparently open in Spencer very soon.
On Tuesday, a sign for Sammy’s Italian Pasta and Pizza was up in place of the former Pizza Hut sign outside the building at 723 South Grand Avenue.
That former pizza joint location will now be home to a restaurant owned by Sammy Ramadani.
Both Ramadani’s business partner, Met Hasani, and property owner Bill Muller confirmed the restaurant will be opening very soon.
“I would say within a week,” Muller said.
The Signal spoke with Hasani on Tuesday. Like Muller, he said the restaurant would be opening “very soon” but added the exact date could still change slightly.
In December, Ramadani told the Signal the restaurant’s menu will feature varieties of pasta, pizza, sandwiches, subs, beer and – of course – wine.
“People that want to eat good Italian food, they need to have a good wine,” Ramadani said. “If you go to an Italian restaurant, you eat good food and you drink good wine.”
Ramadani claimed the pizza will quickly become known as the best in town.
Then, due to health concerns in Ramadani’s family, the restaurant’s fate became uncertain. Muller had even put a “for rent” notice back on the sign outside.
However, Met said, plans have moved forward and Ramadani is again on track.
He noted they’re still waiting on supplies to arrive, including food and menus.
“It all depends on the food,” Met said.
