A City of Spencer garbage truck was involved in an accident Thursday morning at the First Avenue West and West 16th Street intersection.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that at about 8:50 a.m. a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Salvador Venegas Dicante, 43, of Spencer, struck a City of Spencer garbage truck being driven by Damion Honkomp, 46, of Spencer.
According to the report, Venegas Dicante was heading west and Honkomp was going north. Honkomp tried to stop but the garbage truck slid on the icy road.
The vehicles collided in the uncontrolled intersection.
Damage to the front end of the Suburban was estimated to be $2,000, while damage to the garbage truck was reported as minor.
No injuries were reported.
Honkomp was cited for failure to yield to a vehicle on the right, according to the report.
