Woman who hit bicyclist with car reaches plea agreement

A Spencer woman who police reported in August struck a woman riding a bike then got out and punched the victim multiple times has reached a plea agreement.

Third District Court records indicate Wendy Willard agreed to and entered guilty pleas to a count of willful injury causing bodily injury and a count of assault with a deadly weapon.

A count of assault while participating in a felony will be dismissed.

According to a police affidavit, Willard on August 30 intentionally hit a woman riding her bicycle at the Fourth Avenue SW and 12th Street SW intersection in Spencer.

Police reported witnesses stated Willard then got out of her vehicle and punched Armstrong in the face multiple times.

The affidavit also states Willard accused Armstrong of having an affair with the father of her children. Willard accosted Armstrong during the assault, the document indicates.

Sentencing is currently scheduled for March 18.
