A Gillett Grove man charged in a domestic assault case is scheduled to appear at a non-jury trial on May 8 in Third Judicial District Court in Clay County.
Dale Koenig, 61, faces counts of fifth-degree criminal mischief and domestic abuse assault in connection to the incident that occurred in November.
On the night of the incident, a Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a residence in the 3100 block of 440th Street. Koenig was found to have been involved in a domestic incident, a report stated.
According to a criminal complaint, Koenig punched a victim in the stomach and broke out the front-passenger headlight of a vehicle.
The complaint states Koenig told the deputy he and the victim did fight but denied punching the victim. He admitted to breaking the headlight.
Koenig was sentenced last month for a methamphetamine possession charge also stemming from that night.
While he was being arrested, a Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy found methamphetamine on Koenig, who admitted he had used the substance.
He was sentenced to serve 48 hours in the Clay County Jail with credit for time served and ordered to pay fines and associated costs in the drug charge case.
