All motorcycle riders, regardless of experience, are encouraged to attend the motorcycle riding course at Iowa Lakes Community College to improve riding skills. The beginner rider and the intermediate rider will gain from this 15-hour course.
This course will be held on Saturday’s and Sunday’s, with the first class beginning on April 27 – 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer. Students must complete an eCourse before class, which will take approximately 3 hours to complete. Motorcycles are provided for use during the course. The class is open to anyone who is at least 14 years of age. However, if the student is under the age of 18, a parent must sign a waiver. The parental signature must be witnessed by the instructor or notarized.
On the riding range, riders will begin with the basics of using the clutch to shift gears and using the brakes to stop properly. As students gain experience and skill, they will be challenged with emergency maneuvers such as quick stops and quick swerves to avoid road obstacles.
Cost for this course is $239, which includes an online course, workbook, and all range driving and instruction. Class size is limited, so enroll today! Preregistration is required. For more information, or to register, call 800-252-5664 or visit www.iowalakes.edu/ce.
