Meth found on man arrested following traffic stop

Methamphetamine was found on a Spencer man while he was being booked into the Clay County Jail after he had been brought in following a traffic stop on June 1.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported Gabriel Gonzalez Montiel, 23, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor, and introducing a controlled substance into a correctional facility, a class D felony.

Montiel was arrested following a traffic stop at late June 1 in the 1800 block of 350th Street.

A deputy pulled over the 2007 Cadillac Escalade Montiel was driving and found Montiel did not have a valid driver’s license. He was arrested and transported to the jail on that charge.

Montiel was given a warning for failure to have the required amount of headlights.
