A Spencer man was sentenced to two years in prison earlier this month after being convicted of domestic abuse causing injury, his second offense.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported on Friday that Chad Hinners received the sentence in Third Judicial District Court on June 3.
Court records show Hinners voluntarily pleaded guilty to the domestic abuse assault charge. A habitual offender charge was dismissed, records indicate.
The case dated back to January when a criminal complaint was first filed.
After being sentenced, deputies transported Hinners to the Clay County Jail, where he waited to be transported to prison, the sheriff’s office said.
