Injuries avoided in head-on collision between semi, SUV in Webb

Both drivers avoided injuries in a head-on collision Wednesday evening at the Church and Main streets intersection in Webb, though one was taken to a hospital for non-accident related reasons.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported Dennis Anderson, 72, of Marahton, was driving south on Church Street in a 1999 Ford Explorer at about 6 p.m. when it is believed he lost consciousness and veered into the northbound lane of Church Street.

Anderson’s vehicle collided with a 2006 Kenworth semitrailer driven by Austin Gray, 22, of Story City, that was headed north on Church Street from Main Street.

Anderson was transported to Spencer Hospital by ambulance for health concerns that were unrelated to the accident, according to the sheriff’s office report.

No other injuries were reported.

The damage to the Kenworth semitractor was estimated to be worth $10,000, while the Ford Explorer driven by Anderson sustained $8,000 in damages.
