Spencer woman injured in firearm accident

A Spencer woman suffered an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg Tuesday night.

A news release from Spencer police stated authorities were notified of the incident at about 7:30 p.m., which had occurred at 219 East Fourth Street, Unit 1.

When police arrived, they found 54-year-old Jacqueline Sorenson had accidentally shot herself in the knee earlier that day .

After investigating, officers found that the accident happened at about 4 p.m. that day.

At the time, Sorenson was handling a .38 caliber revolver when it fired and struck her in the leg.

Sorenson was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital.
