Minor injuries reported in Friday accident

A driver suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident late Friday at the 180th Avenue and 340th Street intersection near Spencer.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was called to the accident at about 5:40 p.m.

An investigation determined Andrea Cortez, 20, of Aurelia, was in a 2006 Dodge Ram facing north at a stop sign.

According to a report, Cortez did not obey the stop sign and entered the 340th Street in front of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado K2500 that was being driven by Cody Montgomery, 35, of Greenville.

The vehicles collided.

Montgomery was evaluated by the Spencer Hospital Ambulance Service for minor injuries and then released.

Cortez was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and then released.

The sheriff’s office stated there are no other charges at this time.

The Dodge Ram sustained an estimated $10,000 worth in damaged and was deemed total in the crash report.

The Chevrolet Silverado sustained an estimated $8,000 in damages and was also determined to be totaled.
