7 COVID-19 cases linked to assisted living facility in Spencer

Update: Riverview Terrace Assisted Living issued a press release on August 13 confirming that it has experienced an outbreak of COVID-19. The full press release is below, followed by the original article. Press release (August 13):

Riverview Terrace Assisted Living, a division of St. Luke Homes & Services, is reporting an outbreak of Covid-19. Representatives of Riverview Terrace, Spencer, has notified immediate family members, tenants and staff, but due to tenant privacy laws, officials are unable to share any further specific information about the confirmed cases.

Clay County reaches 100-plus COVID-19 cases

Clay County has reached more than 100 cases of COVID-19. As of 5 p.m. Friday, the Iowa Department of Public Health has reported 102 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Clay County. Clay County Public Health has reported 57 people have recovered. Clay County has added about five cases per day this week, continuing last week’s sharp upward trend. Officials feared the possibility of a spike.

Clay County COVID-19 case count now 27

Clay County’s saw its total COVID-19 cases increase to 27 heading into the weekend. Three additional cases were reported Thursday in the county. The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 48 individuals were tested for COVID-19 in Clay County on Thursday. A total of 508 people have been tested in the county, with 479 tests coming back negative. IDPH reports 14 of Clay County’s previous cases have recovered.

2 more COVID-19 cases confirmed in Clay County; 1 death in Buena Vista County

The Iowa Department of Public Health reported two additional cases of COVID-19 in Clay County on Monday. That brings the county’s total number of cases to 18. It’s the third day in a row that the department (IDPH) has reported additional confirmed cases. IDPH data indicates the number of recovered cases in Clay County remains at 13. Clay County also set a daily high for number of individuals tested at 25 on Monday.

More COVID-19 cases reported in Clay County this weekend

Three more COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Clay County this weekend. The Iowa Department of Public Health reported one additional case on Saturday and another two cases on Sunday, bringing Clay County’s total confirmed cases to 16. Data continues to show 13 people have recovered from previously reported cases. As of Sunday morning, the state of Iowa has reported 19,484 cases of COVID-19, 11,060 recovered cases, and 533 deaths. Three northwest Iowa counties have reported deaths due to COVID-19.

3 new COVID-19 cases reported in Clay County

Three new COVID-19 cases were confirmed Tuesday in Clay County, bringing the county total to 13. The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported the new cases on Wednesday in an update to the state’s coronavirus data website. The data on that website show nine of Clay County’s previous cases have recovered. Testing increases in Clay County

Testing for the new coronavirus has also increased in the county. There were 25 individuals tested on May 20, according to IDPH data.

County officials again correct state COVID-19 data

This post has been updated. Clay County still has nine confirmed COVID-19 cases, local health officials confirmed Wednesday. In a situation similar to one that occurred last week, the Iowa Department of Public Health incorrectly attributed a case to Clay County. That individual does not reside in Clay County. In an email shared with the Signal, Susan Zulk, Spencer Hospital VP of Marketing and Fund Development, stated that there could be a variety of reasons for the state misattributing cases to Clay County.

Update: Clay County still at 9 COVID-19 cases

Update: Clay County Emergency Management has reported that Clay County Public Health, after a continued investigation, has determined that the individual believed to have been Clay County’s 10th case of COVID-19 does not live in Clay County. Clay County’s confirmed cases now remains at nine. All have recovered. Spencer Signal’s original article is below. Clay County COVID-19 case count increases to nine

The Iowa Department of Public Health confirmed Clay County’s ninth case of COVID-19 on Friday. The department (IDPH) reported that 184 people have now been tested in the county. Eight of those people were tested on Thursday. Several other counties also saw increases in their confirmed COVID-19 case counts on Friday. Buena Vista County’s total increased to 32.
