Stolen vehicle investigation leads to foot chase, arrest

An Alta man tried to run from officers who were investigating a stolen vehicle before he was tased and arrested on multiple charges, including two felonies. The Spencer Police Department stated that police tried to make contact with the driver of the vehicle they were investigating at 12:27 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of West Sixth Street. That’s when Dalton Goodman, 25, unsuccessfully tried to run on foot from police. Police stated Goodman was tased and taken into custody with minor injuries. Goodman was charged with second-degree theft, a Class D felony; possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a Class B felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor and driving while revoked, a simple misdemeanor.

Stolen SUV lost control, crashed into house on West 4th Street Tuesday

The driver of a stolen SUV lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a house on West Fourth Street at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. According to a police report, the person driving the SUV, a black 2009 Toyota Venza, was driving down Breezy Meadow Lane when they lost control, left the roadway, went through residential yards and struck a house at 1006 West Fourth Street. The driver, who was unknown at the time of the report, then left the scene. The home sustained about $1,500 in damage, while the vehicle sustained about $1,000 in damage to the front driver-side corner. Weather conditions may have been a factor in the Venza leaving the road.
